For this project, my partner and I created a 60- to 90-second short film to represent our assigned word. We filmed it entirely at school, with no sound. We started by completing the Brainstorming Sheet, where we planned how to present the word through a story, images, and symbols. Next, we created a storyboard with 15 slides to plan shots and editing ideas. We then recorded all the footage ourselves and worked together on the edit, ensuring the short film fit the timeframe and told a clear story. We also submitted a screenshot of our editing schedule to show our process. Finally, we named our short film and uploaded it to Google Drive.
Brainstorming was tricky because our word was "curious." Initially, we had a few ideas, but none of them captivated us. We came up with one about a very curious little girl who finds a box and can't open it. Then, we started thinking about how to express that idea in a short video.
The storyboard helped us a lot with remembering the order of the scenes and how to shoot them. It helped us preview how it would look and check if we had access to and understood the general idea of the video. It also helped us understand how we should shoot the scenes and which shots would convey the right feeling to the viewer.
We edited the video in iMovie because that app was easy for Luciana, and I really liked it. It was really easy to use on that app.
The things I think were done well were the way we told the story and the way we filmed it. The things I would improve would be to make sure I had the materials next time, because finding the perfect box was quite difficult. I would also like to have recorded more shots of certain scenes, especially the one at the table with friends.
